In the last 33 years, the Kiwanis Club of Vero-Treasure Coast has provided over $275,000 in college scholarships to students graduating from high schools in Indian River County, Florida.

Club members and youth from the three local high school Key Clubs volunteer thousands of hours to assist with projects to serve the agencies  listed above.  These community projects have established  The Kiwanis Club of Vero-Treasure Coast  as a premier provider for children’s needs.

Our club raises money for children’s needs through golf tournaments, special projects, and business and private donations. Special grants are also available through Kiwanis International.

Each year, club members organize social events for family and guests.  These include events at the holidays, barbeques, special dinners and receptions, and other activities to promote fun and fellowship

Kiwanis Aktion Club of Indian River County is the world’s LARGEST Aktion Club!

In 1980 Greg Holtan was one of the founding members of what is today the largest Kiwanis Aktion Club in the world.  At that time there were 33 members; today there are nearly 150.  The mission of Kiwanis Aktion Clubs is to provide opportunities for physically or mentally challenged adults to interact with the public and to socialize.  Greg says that its most important goal is “to have fun”.

Greg has been the Chairman of the Aktion Club for nearly twenty years and described some of their annual activities as follows:

• Annual participation in “Special Olympics” • Halloween Dance • The Snowflake Ball • Bowling Outings

Jessica is passionate about the Kiwanis mission of improving the lives of children, one child and one community at a time. She looks forward to leading the Kiwanis Club this year and will endeavor to grow the club while serving the community.

Sammartino’s goal for the next two years is to unite clubs to work together to build K Kids and Builders Clubs programs for all counties.   Club meetings with presidents have been scheduled either online and or in person.   Every two months we will host workshops with local clubs to see how we can better serve the children in our counties.  Meeting new directors and inter clubs will be a priority . I am very excited about this new position with Kiwanians and looking forward to serving the children in our communities.

Al has been a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Vero Treasure Coast.  Last year he served as Club President.  He is also Co-Chair of Kiwanis Youth in Action.

One of the local organizations Kiwanis Vero -Treasure Coast has supported for several years is the Indian River Golf Foundation.  The IRGF continues to make a positive impact on the community’s youth.  Using the game of golf to instill character traits inherent in the game, such as integrity, sincerity, trust, and courteous behavior, IRGF’s presence in our community has made a huge difference in the lives of numerous Indian River County youths.  For more information visit their website at http://www.irgf.org/
